Sul Ross Athletics hired Oscar Ray Jimenez as its Athletics Business Coordinator, and he joined the staff on July 6. “I am very excited to begin this opportunity since I see this as a great fit for me,” said Jimenez.

Cowboys still five games out

Rain canceled the first game of a two-game road series against the Garden City Wind beginning July 14. In game two, the Cowboys offense rallied out of the gate, scoring nine runs in the first inning, and finishing with a mammoth 24-2 win.

A win on July 13 now puts the Alpine Cowboys fi ve games back in the division. While it seems like a small number, the Cowboys need to rally to repeat 2019. According to Coach Sean Persky, the season has definitely been up and down.

Students win State Championship

At the 75th FFA State Convention in Fort Worth on July 5-6, Alpine High School’s Gavin Wash and Iowa Park High School’s Levi DeLuna won the FFA State Championship team roping event.
