Paul B. Evans of Alpine passed away suddenly on April 13, 2026. Paul was born on Friday, November 13, 1953, in Canadian, Texas, and was a graduate of La Marque High School in La Marque in 1971. He attended Sul Ross State University for two years before enlisting in the United States Army in 1973, where he served as a Military Policeman in South Korea and Colorado before honorably separating from service and returning to Sul Ross, where he graduated in 1976 with a degree in Criminal Justice.

Paul served as a Deputy Sheriff in Brewster County and served in the same capacity in Reeves County, where he met his future wife, Celia, in 1979. He then served as a Deputy United States Marshall from 1983 until his retirement in 2009.

Paul was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, shooting, and fishing. He was a passionate student of Texas history and genealogy. His ability to tell a story was exceptional. Paul was completely devoted to his family and loved spending time with his sons, bonus daughters, and granddaughters.

Paul is survived by his wife of 45 years, Celia Evans; his sons, David and Matthew Evans; bonus daughters Melissa and Selina Evans; granddaughters Kylee, Esther, and Camila Evans; sister Judy Anne Trainor and husband Jay; sister Liz Outlaw and wife Marianne VanHoutte; and his niece Elizabeth Trainor and nephew David Evans. Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Zora Evans, his brother David N. Evans, and his nephew Patrick Trainor.

Services to honor Paul were entrusted to Alpine Memorial Funeral Home in Alpine and took place on Sunday, April 19 (visitation and Rosary) and on Monday, April 20 (funeral Mass).

Pallbearers: Local Law Enforcement Legends: Ronny Dodson, Danny Dominguez, Kirk Caughman, Felipe Fierro, Darrell Losoya, and Elva Acosta.

Honorary Pallbearers: Kylee Evans, Esther Evans, Camila Evans.
