Cathy Corkins Neie, 61, died unexpectedly Feb. 9, 2022, at Midland Memorial Hospital. She was born Jan. 30, 1961, in Alpine, Texas, to Robert and Maxine Corkins.

Cathy grew up in Alpine, and graduated from Alpine High School in the class of 1979. She married her high school sweetheart, Michael A. Neie, on Aug. 8, 1987. She then graduated from Sul Ross State University Nursing School in 1996 with her LVN. Cathy loved being a nurse, and devoting her time, energy, and ability to helping others.

Cathy was utterly devoted to her family and friends. She adored and loved her grandchildren. They were the light of her life. She will be remembered for her love of life, love for her family, and her caring heart.

Cathy is survived by her loving husband, Michael Neie, of Midland, Texas; two children, Keith Neie of Midland and daughter Chaela Shearer and husband Andrew of Merkel, Texas; two grandchildren, A.J. and Vera Shearer of Merkel; many family and friends; and her faithful companions Tipsy and Roska.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Robert and Maxine Corkins; grandchildren Braxton and Lillian Shearer; and many family members and friends, all of whom she had missed dearly, but with whom she is now reunited.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made to the Little Angels Foundation, supported by American Heritage Funeral Home, P.O. Box 61116, Midland, TX 79711

This foundation held a special place in her heart. She donated annually in honor of her grandchildren. This will continue her legacy in helping others.

A memorial will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Feb. 18, 2022, at Elm Grove Cemetery in Alpine.
