The Brewster County Commissioners met on Tuesday, June 24, for a regular meeting in the commissioner’s courtroom at the Brewster County Courthouse. Precinct 2 Commissioner Sara Colando was the lone member absent, with Brewster County Judge Greg Henington presiding.

The Alpine Public Library is in full swing with its Summer Reading Program. Thanks to local sponsors, this program offers prizes to its participants. Interested students can still participate with reading on Skins and Skulls, Wednesday, July 9, Patterns in the Sky on Friday, July 11, Hummingbirds and Birds on Wednesday, July 16, and Solar Viewing on Thursday, July 17.

Makes 1 1/3 cups INGREDIENTS ½ teaspoon of finely grated lemon zest 2 tablespoons of fresh lemon juice 2 tablespoons minced shallots 1 ¼ teaspoons of Dijon mustard 1 small, minced garlic clove 1/3 cup extra-virgin olive oil Kosher salt Freshly ground black pepper DIRECTIONS In a blender, combine the lemon zest and juice, shallots, mustard, vinegar, and garlic. Puree until smooth.
