The Gospel for the First Sunday in Epiphany is the only account of Jesus between Joseph returning to Nazareth and the baptism of Christ in the Jordan River, initiating His public ministry. St. Luke records this story of Jesus in the temple at age 12 in the second chapter of his Gospel. The Virgin Mary and Joseph went to Jerusalem for Passover, and left Jesus behind. They realized later that He wasn’t a part of the large caravan traveling back to Nazareth.

Alpine High School Fightin’ Bucks varsity cheerleaders Kimberly Lara, Lourdes Acosta, and Angela Martinez ring in the new year at Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Fla., for the New Year’s Day 2022 Citrus Bowl. The cheerleaders, all seniors, represented the National Cheerleading Association Varsity Spirit as they are qualified as All-American cheerleaders. Mascot Marco Martinez, aka Beavie, also performed with other mascots around the country during the pre-game show. The cheerleaders paid for the trip on their own, as it was not an officially sanctioned Alpine ISD trip.
