Awards continue to pour in for football team

Coach John Fellows just received an award he cannot quit bragging and smiling about. That’s because it’s for his football team and all his players. They were awarded The Texas High School Coaches Association Texas state finalist for academic excellence. The Fightin’ Buck football team, along with 13 other high school teams, was named a finalist in 3A.

Bucks toss aside Presidio at Gallego

The Alpine Fightin’ Buck basketball team came back from nine points down to the Presidio Blue Devils to smash them in the second half at the Gallego center, 56- 42. Aiden Morrissey had 15 points to lead all scorers, Esteban Macias had 10 points, and Jayden and Jace Canaba had 13 and 9 points respectively.

West Texas Safari Club donates to scholarship endowment

The West Texas Chapter of Safari Club International has made a $5,000 donation to support an endowed scholarship at the Borderlands Research Institute at Sul Ross State University. The endowment was set up by the West Texas chapter in 2014, and has been supporting students ever since.

It was an exciting opening day on Jan. 29 for Little Dribblers basketball in Alpine as the first and second graders representing the Pistons get ready to battle the Spurs at the Alpine Elementary School gym. There were plenty of parents, family, and fans cheering in the stands as they dribbled their way to the win column.
