As the seasons start to change, the Alpine Lady Bucks look to wrap up District, and advance to the playoffs in a couple of weeks. Currently Alpine is sitting 19-10 overall, and undefeated in District. The team is in the second round of District play, facing those opponents once again.

Marathon residents are invited to a community meeting to learn about the final results of the town’s first Historic Resources Survey, which began in October 2021. The meeting will take place on Thursday, Oct. 20, from 6:30-8 p.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Marathon.

The City of Alpine held its regularly scheduled meeting on Oct. 18, and a proposed contract to reestablish a water well for the city drove the agenda. Council member, Ward 2, Chris Rodriguez, was absent.

On Friday, Oct 28. at Marathon Elementary School, 105 North Fifth Street, Marathon ISD will host a Halloween carnival.

WEEK Alpine Humane Society Pet of the Week is Sky, a three-year-old black and white Husky mix. A pretty big girl, she weighs in at 84 pounds. Sky would love to join your family, and have a home of her own. You can meet Sky at the Alpine Animal Shelter, and watch her in our playgroup during weekday mornings.
