WEEK Alpine Humane Society Pet of the Week is Katie, a heeler mix who is six-and-a-half years old. She came to the shelter with her “sister friend” Athena. She walks nicely on a leash, and is doing well in playgroups. Katie is affectionate and listens well. She weighs in at about 43 pounds, and will make a sweet little addition to your family.

Dear Neil: What care do I need to give my garden mums once they finish blooming in the next couple of weeks? Trim the old flowering stems back to within a couple of inches of the ground. You’ll see new clusters of stems starting to develop.
