Dear Neil: I am moving to a new home and need advice on trees. I love oaks and their durability, but acorns and pollen are daunting to keep up with. Are there any trees that are low maintenance and of equal durability for a person 74 years of age? Are there any oaks that have fewer of the acorns and flowers?

On Tuesday, March 31, 2020, then elected Brewster County Judge Eleazar Cano shut down the county. With orders to shelterin- place for all residents of Brewster County, the closing of all non-essential businesses, prohibition of all mass gatherings, as well as non-essential travel and a curfew of 10 p.m.

Alpine teachers engage in ‘espionage’

Two of Alpine High School’s teachers are becoming “spies.” Mrs. Cory Cason and Mrs. Renee Parson applied for a Fund for Teachers Fellows, which is a grant that aids teachers in transforming their instruction through professional growth and development to better enrich their students through success and support.
