Sunshine House serves the needy

“I picked up meals every Friday. I was just so sore and worn out that I needed help. A year ago, Sunshine House got to delivering meals out here, really helped me to not have to cook as much or drive. My leg pains, and abdomen problems prevent me from doing what needs done,” explains Bob. Hundreds of local senior citizens, like Bob, would continue to struggle with food resources if not for the kindness of Sunshine House volunteers. Some helpers maintain full schedules, with only their lunch hour to spare, and so they do, with a smile.
The Sunshine House of Alpine recently held their first annual March for Meals ‘Run Against Hunger’ 5K in conjunction with the Alpine Food Pantry and Sul Ross’ Lobo Food Pantry on March 25. Bucks’ 0-2 in district play

The Alpine Bucks hosted the Crane Golden Cranes last Tuesday night, opening district play at home. Despite an early lead on the night, the Bucks would fall 4-2 to the Cranes after upsetting the 4-A Monahans Loboes the previous Wednesday with a score of 12-5.

Lady Bucks crush Crane, Tornillo

Alpine head softball coach Chris Virdell lamented his team’s lack of hitting during a 3-game losing streak that included back-to-back losses to Pecos and Odessa by a combined score of 21-1 and a snowy 6-3 district-opening setback to Presidio. But the Lady Bucks broke out of their funk in a big way March 21 with a 16-1 win over the Crane Lady Birds at Sul Ross State University and followed that up with a 23-1 win at Tornillo last Friday.

Track and Field do well in San Angelo

The Alpine Bucks Track and Field team took to San Angelo this past weekend for a twoday competitive meet, with preliminaries on Friday and Finals on Saturday. This was a big meet with multiple school from around the state competing, and only the top seven from each race advance to the finals.
