Hydrangeas hate alkaline soil

Body
Dear Neil, I live in Round Rock, and I’d like to grow hydrangeas. However, I’ve met with repeated failures. I even bought one in Aurora, Colorado. The hydrangea guy there assured me it would do well in my much warmer setting, but it did not. A friend has one that comes back year after year. Do you have any suggestions?

Finding a gathering spot, good food at Rendezvous

Body

What we found was more than just a new place; it felt like the kind of gathering spot our corner of the world has been quietly needing for a long time.

Late rally falls short as Fightin’ Bucks drop game to McCamey

Body
The Alpine High School Fightin’ Bucks came within one play of securing a road victory Friday, March 13, but fell to the McCamey Badgers 4-5 on a walk-off play in the bottom of the seventh inning. The loss was Alpine’s only game over the past two weeks after high winds forced the cancellation of the Bucks’ scheduled March 10 matchup against Monahans.
