The Big Bend Regional Hospital District (BBRHD) held its regular meeting on Wednesday, January 14, at its Alpine office. Chairman Buddy Cavness was absent, and the meeting was led by Vice-Chairman Valynda Henington.

The Alpine High School Lady Bucks varsity basketball team bounced back in a big way last week, picking up a confidence-boosting district win over Tornillo High School with a decisive 55-22 victory in front of the home crowd at Wilson-Stice Court.

The Alpine City Council held its regular meeting on Tuesday, January 20, at 5:30 p.m. After the meeting was called to order, public comments were heard from the Alpine Humane Society Director MaryAnn Vega (Ward 3) and Interim President Marilyn McGee of Fort Davis, who talked about the Mountain Country Christmas event that they were the new administrators of last month.

The Alpine High School Fightin’ Bucks varsity basketball team put together a statement week on their home floor, defending Wilson-Stice Court with a pair of good-time wins over Fort Stockton and Tornillo. The win against Tornillo opened district play on a high note.
