The Alpine ISD Board of Trustees held its regular meeting last Wednesday evening to conduct business, select an interim Chief Financial Officer, and discuss the 2024-2025 audit. After Board President Eddie Natera called the meeting to order, the board heard from leaders at Alpine High School (AHS).

The Alpine High School Fightin’ Bucks varsity basketball team kicked off its 2025-26 season with a statement performance before a home crowd on Monday, November 17, demolishing Midland Texas Leadership Charter Academy 86-28 in a nondistrict matchup. From the opening tip, the Bucks showcased the speed, precision, and tenacity that will define their season.

Una May Wedin Narowetz passed away on November 13, 2025. Born in Del Rio, she was the daughter of predeceased parents, Annie Jo Perry Wedin and Frank H.

Our hearts are broken as we share that Carolyn Ann Finney Schaeffler passed away on October 20, 2025, far too soon. She fought a brave battle in the final months of her life and remained the very embodiment of grace and kindness until her final breath.

James “Jim” Walter Carrico, long-time resident of Terlingua, passed away on November 1, 2025, in Fort Stockton. He was 91 years old.

Everyone is invited to meet and greet author, Henry “Hank” Ewert, who will speak about his new book, Let The Music Speak, today at the Jeff Davis County Library. The book spans the decades of the 1950s to the present and highlights country singers. Copies of his book will be available for purchase and signing. Doors will open today at 5 p.m. and the program begins at 5:30 p.m. This is a free program sponsored by Friends of the Library.
