Road and Bridge department busy after snow

The Brewster County Commissioners Court met this past Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. for their regularly scheduled meeting. The Road and Bridge department, along with Brewster County Tourism and the Sheriff’s department had agenda items of note.

New daycare getting closer

The Alpine ISD School Board of Trustees met on Wednesday, March 22 at the AISD administration building in a specially called meeting and board training session. All trustees were required to attend for the training.

City breaks ground for new park

Body
The City of Alpine broke ground for a new park last Thursday evening. The park, currently unimproved, is a collaborative effort with the city and the Texas Parks and Wildlife Recreation Grants branch.
The groundbreaking ceremony was held for the new Pueblo Nuevo Park last Thursday on the southeast side of Alpine. Ingredients: Fresh, sliced mozzarella Fresh, sweet basil leaves Fresh, heirloom tomatoes, sliced Fresh Roma tomatoes, sliced Salt to taste Extra virgin olive oil Directions: Slice fresh tomatoes as you would for use on a hamburger or sandwich Slice fresh mozzarella or purchase pre-sliced Tear fresh basil leaves from stems Layer ingredients in a row, overlapping edges to display all ingredients Drizzle with extra virgin olive oil Sprinkle with salt to taste Enjoy!

Springtime means warmer weather, and with warmer weather comes a change in food cravings for many people. Gone are the cravings for rich, heavy foods, and in its place is the desire for lighter fare.

What are you especially looking forward to in your senior year? I’m looking forward to graduating with a Red Cord for my continued blood donations. What activities are you involved in during your senior year? I was in band at the beginning of this year, then I moved over to athletics, and currently I am participating in tennis.

Gardenias tender to extreme freezing

Dear Neil: I had two gardenia trees in large pots. I think the winter did a number on them because the leaves all turned brown. When I trimmed them, I saw green tissues in the stems, but they have not put any new leaves out yet. Do you think I’ll need to replace them?
