What are you especially looking forward to in your senior year? What I am especially looking forward to in my senior year is graduating and playing sports. What activities are you involved in during your senior year? Some activities I am involved in would include National Honor Society, and I am in active in art, volleyball, cross country, track and field, and tennis.

Alpine Humane Society Pet of the Week is Kenai, a black and white male kitten born in late April 2021. He has spent a bit of time at the shelter and is ready for his home. He came into the shelter with his siblings, and they have grown up here.

U.S. Border Patrol agents conducting traffic check operations at the I-10 immigration checkpoint in Sierra Blanca interdicted a tractor trailer smuggling scheme.

The City of Alpine held its regularly scheduled city council meeting on Sept. 21, and budget issues were on the forefront of discussion, generating plenty of debate during public comment and voting.

Interim City Manager Megan Antrim recently signed a one-year contract with the City of Alpine to continue in that position. She calls herself “very career oriented,” and has worked in local governments for almost 20 years, mostly in Brewster County and Alpine.

The large number of expulsions during the pandemic has contributed to a larger than usual number of migrants making multiple border crossing attempts, which means total encounters somewhat overstate the number of unique individuals arriving at the border.

Alpine author Barney Nelson has a friendly chat with customers Julie and Wes Mastic of Amarillo at Big Bend Saddlery’s Book Signing on Sept. 18 in Alpine.
