Data centers could strain water supply A new report says the boom in data centers across Texas could consume nearly 3% of the state’s water by 2030, the Houston Chronicle reported. The Houston Advanced Research Center found that the data centers, used to power artificial intelligence, used 25 billion gallons of water in 2025.
