Fitzgerald paints alley art

Kerry Awn Fitzgerald, a life long devotee of the Big Bend, recently became an Alpine resident. Fitzgerald is an artist, cartoonist, actor, muralist, comedian, and musician. He was inducted into the Austin Arts Hall of Fame, and has been recognized by the City of Austin and the State of Texas for his contributions to the arts. He was voted Austin’s funniest person 10 years running by the Austin Chronicle.

City says yes to new wine bar

News of a proposed wine bar tentatively scheduled to open next year highlighted the City of Alpine’s regular city council meeting at the Alpine Civic Center on Nov. 2. Council, Ward 2, Chris Rodriguez was absent.

Ghouls just wanna have fun

It’s a fun time at Alpine Elementary School for Victoria Rios’ pre-k 3 class as the kiddos were all decked out in their Halloween costumes during the Alpine pumpkin patch and hay maze on Oct. 29. The Halloween themed event featured elementary school teachers and staff with costumes, and Sul Ross State University students helping out with the games. The event was sponsored by Porter’s Thriftway and Out West Feed. The Alpine Police Department was present to watch over the activities.

Far West Texas Cattle Co. of Alpine celebrated its grand opening on Oct. 21, and Alpine Ambassadors were there to welcome owner Debbie Willbanks as she also hosted an open house. The company sells high quality beef subscriptions while giving back most of its profits to benefit needy people around the world.
