The Alpine Emergency Services Board held its last meeting of the year on Tuesday, December 5. Two members of the board were absent, including Treasurer Stacy Wood, and Alpine Volunteer Fire Department (AVFD) Chief Andrew Pierce.

Many pieces of the water system in Alpine have been a puzzle. Some of the wells seem to refuse to fill up, entire networks operate without the required pressure, as well as mysterious water losses.

The deadline for candidacy filings for the March primary ballot has come and gone, having expired on Monday, December 11 at 6 p.m. Currently, four candidates are running for office as Democrats, and five are running as Republicans in open county positions.

The seventh annual Hillside Baptist Church children’s Christmas store will be open this Saturday, December 9 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the fellowship hall located at 205 Church Road just off East Hwy 90.

The Jeff Davis County Food Pantry is seeking donations of pasta. Regular pasta, any shape or size is being requested, but they are not looking for whole wheat. The food bank has been unable to supply regular pasta and buying wholesale is not an option.

According to information from the Presidio County Sheriff’s Department (PCSO), on Sunday, December 3, deputies from the PCSO responded to a call about a hunting accident involving a 15-yearold male.

On November 11, the Texas Academy of Family Physicians (TAFP) held their Primary Care Summit in Grapevine where they installed four new officers. Among these appointees was local physician Dr. Adrian Billings.
