For most of mankind’s tenure on earth, predicting the weather has been local. Based on experience, one could determine the general patterns that might occur in the local vicinity. One might have general information about weather patterns in a region but understanding “the weather” as we define it today, was beyond the capacity of local knowledge.

Singer-songwriters to converge on Marathon

The fifth annual Marathon Songwriter’s Festival once again will grace the grounds of the Gage Hotel and their properties, in a two-day event focusing on individuals whose creativity not only sells their own records, but those well-known names of Nashville fame like Patty Loveless, Keith Urban, Kenny Chesney, and Johnny Lee.

Cowboys fall to Triggers in first round

For the third consecutive season, the Alpine Cowboys ended their Pecos League playoff run in unceremonious fashion. The Trinidad Triggers took down the Cowboys at Kokernot Field in the best-of-three, first round for the second year in a row. Trinidad won the first and third games of the series while Alpine was victorious in game two. Trinidad now faces the Tucson Saguaros in the Mountain Division Championship series, with the winner advancing to play the San Rafael Pacifics in the title series.
