On Sunday, October 13, we said goodbye to William Sidney Walker, known by many in the area as “Wild Bill.” He was a father, a brother, a friend, and a proud former Marine.

Though he was born on August 1, 1950, at All Saints Hospital in Fort Worth, he spent most of his youth in South Brewster County and graduated from Alpine High School in 1969.

Throughout his life, he walked many paths. Out of the Marine Corps, he became a top data processor at IBM in the early days of computer technology. He later worked in corporate recruiting and then as a truck driver and equipment operator. Though he spent a lot of time in cities, Alpine was always his home, and once he returned, he chose not to leave.

He is survived by his son Clint Walker, his daughterin- law Dani Walker, his granddaughter Zoe, and four siblings: Florence Cox, Jean Bell, Charlie Parrish, and Melanie P Locke. His steadfast loyalty to friends and family, love of dancing and playing pool, and often oddball humor will be sorely missed.
