Wallace (Wally) Abrego Schodts Sr., 81, of Grand Prairie, passed away on July 23. He was born in Marathon and graduated from Marathon High School. He later attended Sul Ross State University.

Wallace proudly served in the United States Marine Corps and was stationed in Japan in 1964. After his military service, he worked as an Aerospace Engineer and retired after 50 years in the aerospace industry.

He was also the band leader of La Fuerza and Los Cruizers— a gifted bass player who wrote, composed, and recorded many albums. Music was his heartbeat. He was also a proud Dallas Cowboys fan and enjoyed watching them play every season.

He is survived by his children: Wallace Jr., Louanda, and Yvonne; ten grandchildren: Michael, Stephanie, Rayna, Cierra, Miranda, Jazmine, Maggi, Jennifer, Alexxis, and Xavier; and fifteen great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in

death by his son, Michael “Mikey” Schodts, and his parents, Miguel and Maria Schodts.

Wallace will be remembered for his love of music and the heart he had for many.

Services on Saturday, August 30, 2025: Rosary will start at 9:30 a.m. with a Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Marathon. The committal will follow at Marathon Cemetery.
