Romelia Valenzuela Losoya of Gordonville, Texas, a devoted mother, grandmother, nurse, birder, quilter, and lover of nature, passed away peacefully on March 14, 2026, at the age of 80.

Born June 22, 1945, to Pablo and Calistra Valenzuela, Romelia was born and raised in Fort Stockton, where the wide West Texas skies sparked a lifelong appreciation for nature and the outdoors.

She spent her entire career as a nurse, caring for others with compassion, skill, and quiet dedication.

Romelia loved gardening, camping, quilting, watching the sky, and surrounding herself with animals, especially her beloved cats and dogs. Known for her distinctive sense of style, she wore statement jewelry with ease and brought a spark of personality wherever she went. Above all, she cherished her family and was known for her kindness and generous spirit. She was truly one of a kind and will be deeply missed.

She is survived by her sons Richard Losoya (Hilda) and Abel Losoya III (Kym); grandsons Abel E. Losoya and Tyler Losoya (Brittany); great granddaughter Annabel Losoya; her loyal furbaby Chiquita; sisters Adelina Zamarippa, Emma Warne, and Ivy Villarreal; dear sisterin- law Arcelia Carrasco; and many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Pablo and Calistra Valenzuela; her sisters Ernestina Hagy and Melba Ramos; her son Michael Losoya; and her brother Paul Valenzuela.

In lieu of flowers, though she loved them dearly, the family asks that you plant something in her memory.
