Manuel David “Chaluga” Carrillo, Jr.
Manuel David “Chaluga” Carrillo, Jr., 52, of Alpine, Texas, passed away on Aug. 3, 2021, at his son’s home in Midland, Texas, surrounded by the love and support of his family.
Chaluga was born in Alpine, Texas, to Manuel and Jesusita “Jessie” Carrillo on July 11, 1969. He attended school and graduated from Alpine High School. During his school years, he enjoyed playing baseball, football, and basketball, and working in welding.
Chaluga worked for many years at Alpine ISD and for the railroad. Everything he did and accomplished was for his family. Chaluga was well known in our community of Alpine as someone who enjoyed watching the Cowboys play, cooking, and hanging out with friends and family, all while enjoying a cold one. Chaluga was an amazing father, son, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. He was a very generous, loving, caring, and kind man who did so much for so many, a legend who will forever be remembered and spoken of for years to come.
Manuel David “Chaluga” Carrillo, Jr., was preceded in death by his mother Jesusita “Jessie” Carrillo.
Chaluga is survived by his father Manuel Carrillo, Sr., of Alpine; son Manuel Jesus Carrillo III of Midland; sister Sylvia Carrillo of Odessa, Texas; and brothers Michael Carrillo of Lubbock, Texas, and James Carrillo of El Paso, Texas.
Pallbearers will be Michael Carrillo, James Carrillo, Tina Gonzales, Ricky De La O, Dereck De La O, and Jason Carrillo. Honorary pallbearer will be Sandra Molinar.
The family of Chaluga wishes to extend our sincere thanks from the bottom of our hearts to all of our family and friends for always supporting us through everything.
Goodbyes are not forever, are not the end. It simply means we will miss you very much until we meet again.
Rosary was held Aug. 11, 2021, at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Alpine, conducted by Rosella Salmon.
Funeral mass services were held Aug. 12, 2021, at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church with Fr. Victorino Loresca officiating. Burial followed at Holy Angels Cemetery in Alpine, officiated by Fr. Loresca.
Arrangements were entrusted to Alpine Memorial Funeral Home.
