Mandy G. Galindo from Alpine, Texas, passed on Feb. 8, 2022. She was born Feb. 27, 1933, to Andres and Augustina Gonzales.

Mandy, a self-described country girl, attended schools in Alpine, and Tracy, Calif. A graduate of Alpine High School in 1950, she married Eliceo Galindo from San Angelo, Texas. She was the mother of Peggy and Michael Galindo.

They moved to Los Angeles, Calif., in the 1950s where she began work in the laundry service industry. In 1958 the family moved to San Jose, Calif., for a brief while, and finally settled in the Bay Area.

Mandy continued working, this time for Valley Industrial Laundry in Union City, Calif. Her dream was to be in education, and around 1968 she started attending education classes at Chabot Community College in Hayward, Calif. Mandy received her associate of arts Spanish degree from Chabot College, then transferred to California State Hayward College where she received her bachelors degree in education. A lifelong goal to enter the teaching profession, Mandy received her California teaching credential from San Jose State College, then began her teaching career at Alvarado Middle School.

In the meantime, while teaching classes during the day, she entered the Cal State Hayward School administration program where she earned her masters degree in high school administration. From teaching in the classroom, Mandy was promoted to a counselor position at Alvarado Middle School, then over on to counsel students at James Logan High School in Union City, Calif. Through dedication to her life in education, she became a high school administrator vice principal at James Logan High School. She was well know by many of the student and faculty throughout the New Haven Unified School District in Union City.

Mandy was the grandmother of seven.

She enjoyed sports, geography, history, and travel throughout the U.S., Canada, Mexico, and Europe. She was a parishioner at Holy Rosary Church in Union City, attending mass each Sunday there and at Holy Spirit Church and St. James Church in Fremont, Calif.

Mandy is survived by Peggy and Michael; her sister Juanita Silva of Odessa, Texas; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews throughout California and the Southwest.

Many thanks to all the family and friends who called to express their condolences and love for Mandy.

Funeral services are pending.

May God bless her, and she rest in peace.
