Body

It is with a heavy but grateful heart that we announce the passing of Lupe Vega, who left us peacefully surrounded by her three children (Henry, Rose, and Cynthia) on September 30 at the well-celebrated age of 90. After a brief battle with cancer, she is now in the loving arms of the One True Living Christ and reunited with her beloved husband, Alberto Vega, who she was married to for 62 wonderful years.

Born on April 9, 1934, in Alpine, Lupe “Nana” Vega dedicated her life to her family, spoiling her many grandkids and great-grandchildren with abundant hugs and kisses. She was a loving grandmother, mother, and friend to many, known for her compassion and unwavering dedication to the church. Her legacy of love will live on through her children and grandchildren, who cherished all the wonderful years the Lord allowed her to be with us here on Earth.

Lupe Vega had a real passion for the church and spent her final days in deep prayer, asking only the Lord’s will to be done in her life. Her spirit and laughter will be deeply missed by all those who had the privilege of knowing her.

A pre-service luncheon will be held at the Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church Parish Hall on November 2 at 11:45 a.m. A memorial service will also be held at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, with the recitation of the Holy Rosary beginning at 1 p.m. and the funeral Mass beginning at 1:30 p.m. While flowers are not necessary, they would be greatly appreciated, especially knowing the love that Lupe Vega had for them.

“But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, who by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body.” Philippians 3:20-21.

Rest in eternal peace, Nana.
