John Charles Conners was born on Oct. 22, 1933, in Rio Grande City, Texas, and passed away on June 18, 2022.

John was a loving husband to Maria Flora Conners for 64 years, and they share three children, Mary Francis Gonzales, John Kennedy Conners, and Charles Lee Conners. By his children he lives on through seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

John moved to Marfa, Texas, with his parents and family at a young age where he attended the Blackwell School.

John was preceded in death by his father John Francis Conners; mother Francis P. Millan Conners; four brothers, Mike, Ernest, Eddie, and James; and his sister Francis “Sissy” Garcia.

John is survived by his brother Lawrence “Larry” Conners; sister Dorothy Conners; and various nieces and nephews.

After school, John enlisted in the U.S. Army where he served in Okinawa, Japan.

The funeral services will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church followed by burial at the Merced Cemetery at 9 a.m. on Saturday, June 25, 2022.

Pallbearers will be Christopher Conners, Adam Gonzales, Brady Salmon, Camden Lujan, Jerram Rojo, and Samuel Ramirez. Honorary Pallbearers will be Donny and Jesse Garcia.

In lieu of flowers, make donations to Saint Mary’s Catholic Church.
