James Dickie Vaughn passed on into eternal life on May 8 and is now in the arms of Jesus. He was born to Katherine Valentine and James Raymond Vaughn on September 24, 1935, in Henry County, Tennessee. He grew up in Paris, Tennessee, and graduated from E W Grove High School in 1953. He was drafted into the Army and served from 1953 to 1956. After the service, he attended Memphis State University. He managed several tire dealership stores until starting D&D Tire in Alpine, in 1974. In his heyday, he was an avid golfer and pilot. In April 1983, he accepted Jesus Christ as his savior after crashing his plane into the side of a mountain and has walked with Him ever since.

He was preceded in death by his parents

and his sister, Bobbie Vaughn (Goggin) Fulcher.

Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Thuykhoi Vaughn; children, Rick Vaughn of Kansas, Janet (Bill) Jackson of Florida, Chris Vaughn of Texas, Sherri (Don) McGinnis of Texas, Sonny (Julie Le) Nguyen of Texas, Mike (Nana) Vaughn of Maryland, and Matt Vaughn of New Jersey; 21 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; brother Rex Millington Vaughn (Terry); nieces and nephews. The burial service will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 28 at DFW National Cemetery.
