It is with heartbreak and deep sadness that we announce the passing of Estella Garcia Reyes of Alpine on September 20, at age 83, surrounded with love by her family in El Paso. As we all weep in this time of pain for our Beautiful Mom and Matriarch, Mother-In-Law, Grandma and Great Grandma whose love and presence we will always feel as she looks upon us from above.

Estella was born in Sanderson on November 19, 1940, to Elfida and Antonio Garcia. She is preceded in death by her parents, daughter Yvonne Reyes, Aunt Manuela “Nellie” Moreno, sister Patricia Llanez, son Eric Reyes, son-in-laws Benito Ruiz Jimenez, Richard Hernandez, Michael David Castelo, and niece Diana Llanez.

An alumnus of Alpine Centennial School and Alpine High School, mom played the clarinet as a member of both bands and dedicated over 40 years to serving the Alpine community in the service industry. We will miss waking up to the smell of mom’s coffee, seeing her working on various Word Search books, and sounds of the TV of The Young and The Restless, Bold and The Beautiful, Tucker Carlson, Sean Hannity and The My Pillow Guy as she stayed awake watching “Her Fox News.” We’ll also miss Mom shouting out answers while watching Family Feud, Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy. Along with missing eating mom’s homemade Frito pie, chicken salad, tortillas and many more of her dishes.

Mom’s wittiness, sassiness, joy and hundreds of beautiful memories will touch us all forever. Stellita, as she was known by her great-grandchildren and her love for them couldn’t be measured as she would call them her “Babies”, and they simply felt her love the moment she saw them. She is survived by her daughters Nancy Sue Stoltz (George, Urnbearer); Eunice Reyes; Debra Jimenez; Stacey Reyes and son Marin Reyes Jr., Urnbearer; Grandchildren: Liza Eileen Ramirez, Lector (Steven, Urnbearer); Felixshia Nicole Stoltz, Lector (Josh, Urnbearer); Benito Matthew Jimenez, Urnbearer; George Anthony Stoltz, Urnbearer (Kim); Briana Shanelle Day, Gift Bearer (Nathan, Urnbearer); George Eric Stoltz, Urnbearer; Tristen Ilias Hernandez, Urnbearer; Richard Antonio Hernandez Jr., Urnbearer; Micaela Macy Castelo, Urnbearer; Nevaeh Julia Reyna, Urnbearer; Ruben Marin Reyes, Urnbearer; Great Grandchildren: Aaliyah Jade Stoltz, Gift Bearer; Olivia Delene Stoltz, Lector; Audrielle Jazlynn Stoltz; George Anthony Stoltz II; Maybelle Estelle Sue Stoltz Vasquez; Ezlynn Skye Castelo; also survived by her Llanez nieces and nephews, cousins, compadres Simon and Isabelle “Chevela” Salas; her Best Friend of 70+ years Jovita McCarty.

As our Beautiful and Beloved Mom watches upon us from above, her memories will always warm our hearts, knowing another angel and protector is Estella “Stellita.” We extend our gratitude to AM Hospice for their care of our mom.
