Celestina Acosta Gomez, peacefully passed away at the remarkable age of almost 110, on February 22 at 7:30 a.m. in her hometown Alpine.

Celestina Acosta Gomez was born in Castolon to Lucas Ramirez Acosta and Aurelia Hinojos on May 19, 1914. She married Manuel Galindo Gomez on February 10, 1944, in Mexico. She was a devoted Homemaker whose warmth and kindness touched the lives of all who knew her. In the late 1950’s she worked for Pete Gallego at the Old Green Café, following the Gallego’s restaurant as a devoted cook until retirement. In her spare time, she loved to garden, crochet, snack on cookies and biscochos, and have a few pina colada margaritas here and there and also loved to dance. Throughout her century-long journey, she dedicated herself to nurturing her family and creating a haven of love and comfort. Her legacy of selflessness, resilience, and unwavering love will forever be cherished by her family and friends. Though she may be gone, her spirit will continue to inspire and guide those she leaves behind. May she rest in eternal peace. Celestina is preceded in death by her husband Manuel Gomez, daughter Celia Ramirez, and parents.

Celestina is survived by her daughter Minga and her husband Cipriano Rodriguez of Lewisville, daughter Celestina and husband Tony Gonzales of San Antonio, daughter Delia and husband Carlos Reyna of San Antonio, and sister Hermeregilda Garcia of Lovington, New Mexico.

She is also survived by her grandchildren Leroy, Debbie, Frankie, Sarah Ramirez, Melissa, Marcos Ray and wife Becky Rodriguez, Manuel, and wife Cassie Reyna, Tony and wife Geneva Gonzalez, Analisa Castro and Husband Arturo Castro, Sonia Guzman and husband Alejandro.

Great grandchildren Anthony, Sharon, and Relo Ramirez, Joshua, Brittany, and Christopher Rodriguez, Alejandro, Diego, Adrián, and Gabriella Sanchez, Abby, Christian, and Adrian Castro, Sophie Guzman, Shay Reisner, Daniel Ramirez, Mia, and Star Cavaso, and Elisa, Antonio III Gonzales.

Pallbearers will be Marcos Rodriguez, Alejandro, Diego, and Adrian Sanchez; Brendan Benitez and Chris Rodriguez.

Honorary Pallbearers; Melissa, Ray Rodriguez, Gabriella Sanchez.

Visitation was held on Friday, March 1 from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. with Rosary recited at 7 p.m. at Eternity Funeral Home, 600 East Dickinson Blvd, in Fort Stockton.

Viewing was at 9 a.m. and the Rosary was held at 9:30 a.m. with funeral Mass at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 2, at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, 406 South 6th Street, Alpine with Father Hector Chicas officiating.

Burial followed at Holy Angels Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Eternity Funeral Home from Fort Stockton.
