Arthur Edmond Price passed away at the age of 36 on Dec. 15, 2022, in Gulfport, Mississippi.

Arthur was born in Louisville, Kentucky on May 3, 1986, to James A. Price and Karen Epperson-Price. He is preceded in his passing by his brother, Henry Sinclair Price, PO2 U.S. Navy, maternal grandparents, David H. Epperson, and Růžena “Rose” Jedličkova, and paternal grandfather, James E. Price.

He grew up in various places including Texas, Mississippi, Kentucky, and Maryland. An avid gamer and voracious reader from a young age, he was drawn to Russian literature in high school and even pondered joining the French Foreign Legion. With a keen and wicked sense of humor, he was no stranger to shenanigans, but ever a champion of the downtrodden and a rescuer of stray animals.

In 2012 he attended the summer intensive Czech language course at Charles University in Prague, and afterwards enjoyed visiting with his cousins and exploring south Bohemia where his grandmother Růžena was born.

Arthur graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a minor in chemistry. With research interests including nonhuman primates, African wild dogs, and psychiatry, he also worked at USM’s Laboratory for Prosimian Studies.

After his father moved to Alpine, Texas, he loved visiting the dark skies of the Big Bend and was thrilled to see the Milky Way for the first time down by Hen Egg Mountain. Quite the gardener, he was a fan of all types of peppers of which he grew many of at home, often creating his own unique blends of hot sauces. Moved by the awesome natural beauty and the vast and varied cacti of the Chihuahuan Desert, he had had plans to return with his nieces and nephew to share with them the place he had grown so fond of.

Arthur is survived by his mother, Karen Epperson- Price of Long Beach, MS; father, James A. Price of Alpine, TX; his beloved paternal grandmother, Ruth Hoagland Price of Louisville, KY; sister, Hannah Inaba, of Hakusan, Japan and of her children, Claire, Eugene, and Emma whom he adored. He is also survived by aunts and uncles and cousins in Mississippi and Kentucky; cousins in the Czech Republic; his dogs, Daisy, and Jack; his cats, Willie, Teddy, Irving, and Violet; and the wealth of true friends and comrades who will dearly miss this bright and brilliant young man who had so much more life to live.
