The USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service and Big Bend Soil and Water Conservation District of Brewster county seek public opinions on how to better serve local citizens through the agricultural bill’s conservation and technical assistance programs. To reduce the spread of COVID, USDA NRCS and Districts have organized their annual meeting for Monday, April 5 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. following state guidelines. Interested parties are encouraged to drive through the parking lot at 1805 Highway 118 north in Alpine, and complete a survey for the conservation needs on private land in Brewster County.

This meeting is an opportunity to bring together farmers, ranchers, and conservationists to set local conservation priorities. This information helps determine what collaborative efforts are needed to address natural resource priorities, and identifies opportunities to address them with soil-enhancing conservation practices, watershed health, biodiversity, and farmer livelihoods.

Conservation stakeholders and others interested in obtaining federal technical and financial assistance to improve the private lands of Brewster County are encouraged to participate.
