Arlys Simpson
Arlys Simpson was born to Alfred and Norma Pflughoeft on Jan. 23, 1930.
She attended grade school and high school at a Lutheran Church school.
She became an excellent hair dresser. Her clients were wives of CEOs of large corporations, and she became quite famous for her talents.
Later she became a rancher, a real cowgirl, and an avid barrel racer.
She liked refinishing antique furniture and doing crossword puzzles, and loved music with a passion. She taught accordion at the La Duca accordion school. Arlys played the piano and organ at church for several years. She played bridge with friends, and golf with the ladies and her husband Jack.
Arlys was a business woman. She and Jack owned the T-Box Golf Shop. They assembled and sold golf clubs in every state in the U.S. and three foreign countries. They also ran Lajitas Golf Course in Texas for almost fi ve years, making it a profitable organization.
Her greatest gift was the love she had for family - her son Wes and daughter-in-law Pat, granddaughter Kali, and all of her husband’s kids. Jack had three daughters and one son, seven grand children, and eight great grand children. Arlys was considered grandma to them all.
Arlys was truly the American homemaker. She was an excellent cook and homemaker, and a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She truly believed in God, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost. She was a true believer.
Ninety-one years of life can’t be recalled on paper. Those who knew Arlys are the ones who really know her life stories.
Services for Arlys will be held at a later date.
