Information received from the USDA Farm Service Agency would like to notify local farmers and ranchers that nominations are now being accepted to serve on the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Farm Service Agency (FSA) county committees.

July 22 is the proposed launch date of Mountain View Hospitality Academy, the newest initiative of the nonprofit outreach program Mobile Comunidad, with a mission to offer professional training to area adults and those over age 16 in all aspects of the hospitality industry.

The Brewster County Commissioners Court held its regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, June 25 at 9:30 a.m. in the commissioner’s courtroom.

Every year, across the state of Texas and the nation at large, high school boys at the end of their junior year are chosen by their local American Legion (AL) Post to travel to Austin and participate in a week-long event focused on the practice of our democratic government. This event is known as Texas Boys State. Recently I, along with other Alpine High School students David Valenzuela, JP Valenzuela, and Zane Wash, were some of the roughly 1,000 boys chosen to attend Boys State and had the unique privilege of witnessing the future leaders of our state.

The Alpine City Council held its regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, June 18 at 5:30 p.m. in the council chambers. All council members, except Ward III representative Darin Nance were present in the chambers. Nance joined the meeting via Zoom.
