Bar-SR-Bar reunion slated for this weekend

This year’s annual Sul Ross Ag and Rodeo Association reunion is scheduled for Friday, July 19 through Sunday, July 21 with most events occurring at the Everett E. Turner Range Animal Science complex. This yearly reunion hosts a domino tournament, goat roping, team roping, a poker tournament, a golf tournament, and a barrel race, breakaway roping, ribbon roping, goat tying, and pole pending competition with proceeds benefitting scholarships for the Sul Ross State University Agriculture and Rodeo programs.

Wilson will once again lead the AHS band

Local musician and band director Chuck Wilson first began his career at Alpine ISD in 2002. He resigned from Alpine ISD in 2021 and began teaching at his alma mater Sul Ross State University (SRSU) that same year. Wilson has now returned to Alpine High School as their 20242025 band director.

Sul Ross earns NCAA OK for second provisional year

The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) announced today that Sul Ross State University in Alpine has met the criteria to advance its provisional status in its quest to transition into Division II athletic competition.

Sul Ross hosts hands-on cyber camp

The Sul Ross State University Homeland Security and Criminal Justice Department, in partnership with the University of Scranton-Pennsylvania, offered a Cyber Security and Cyber Crimes Investigation Camp for area high school students in Alpine July 9-11.
