Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission adopts new mountain lion regulations

The Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission approved regulations banning canned hunts and implementing trapping standards for mountain lions during its May meeting. These changes are the first in more than 50 years regarding the management of mountain lions in Texas and move the state toward more modern hunting and trapping standards.

The coolest 4th of July weekend slated for Fort Davis

Fort Davis begins their celebration on Thursday, July 4, and will conclude the weekend of fun with vendors at the courthouse on Sunday, July 7 in the morning and in the afternoon, they will close it all out with an 1880s baseball game at the Fort Davis National Historic Site.

Weekend stabbing victim airlifted to El Paso

According to a press release issued by Captain Felipe Fierro of the Alpine Police Department, this past Sunday morning, June 16, Alpine Police officers were dispatched to Big Bend Regional Medical Center regarding a 21-year-old male who suffered multiple stab wounds. After speaking to the victim, Elijah Gongora of Medina and a student at Sul Ross, it was discovered that the incident occurred in the 2000 block of Peach Tree Circle. Officers identified the suspect as a 16-year-old male juvenile who is awaiting proceedings at this time. The male victim was airlifted to an El Paso hospital where he was being treated and expected to be released. This investigation is ongoing and no further information is available at this time.
