The May 3 general election has passed, and with it, the Alpine City Council now has two new members. Richard Portillo won the election by a landslide in the only contested race for the Ward 1 seat, formerly held by Reagan Stone, with a total of 118 votes over his opponents, Austin Smith, who earned 43 votes, and Andres “Andy” Ramos, who earned five votes.

It was a shock to wake up on the morning of April 21, 2025, to the news that Pope Francis had died from a stroke. It should have come as no surprise, considering the pontiff’s illness and the amount of his activity during Holy Week and Easter Sunday. He mentioned how grateful he was to return to St. Peter’s Square, where thousands of believers gathered near the Vatican, during Holy Week.

INGREDIENTS Cooking spray 2 pints vanilla ice cream, softened 1-pint raspberry sorbet, softened 1 (9-ounce) package chocolate wafer cookies, crushed (about 2 ½ cups) 1 cup heavy cream 3 tablespoons powdered sugar 1 package of fresh raspberries DIRECTIONS Lightly coat a 9x5-inch loaf pan with cooking spray.
