Luis Lauro Hernandez, 68, entered into eternal rest on June 5, 2022, in Del Rio, Texas. He was born on July 13, 1953, in Del Rio.

He was preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children, Berta Hernandez; and his father, Jose Venancio Hernandez.

He is survived by his beloved wife of seven years, Beverly Hernandez; her children Dawn and Robin; his three children, Luis Antonio “Tony” (Elizabeth), Amanda (Victor), and Jose Roberto “Joey;” grandchildren Alexandra “Alex,” Angelina “Angel,” Gabriel, Ariana, and Lorenzo; his mother Juanita Trevino Hernandez; siblings Diva Mayra (Francisco), Jose Venancio (Isa), Maite, Mario, and Naela (Rogelio); and numerous nieces and nephews who loved him immensely.

He was a dedicated educator, earning his degree from Sul Ross State University. Throughout his teaching career, he influenced many lives across multiple cities as a Spanish and art teacher. He enjoyed road trips, riding his motorcycle, storytelling, and making long-lasting friends everywhere he went.

He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. He will be incredibly missed, forever celebrated, and perpetually loved by his family and friends. Gone but never forgotten, we love you Patch.

Visitation will be held Thursday, June 9, 2022, from 4-7 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Oaks Funeral Home in Del Rio. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be at 5:30 p.m. at 2020 North Bedell Avenue in Del Rio 78840.

A funeral mass will be held Friday, June 10, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 510 Wernett Street, Del Rio, 78840. Additional memorial services to be held in Palacios, Texas, and Alpine, Texas. Dates and services pending.
