PET OF THE WEEK

Body
WEEK Alpine Humane Society Pet of the Week is Olive. Olive is a very outgoing and energetic puppy. A Border Collie mix, less than a year old, she loves to play with anyone who comes to her and will jump up and greet them with hugs. She enjoys running and loves to play with rope toys all day, every day. She is very smart and learns new tricks very fast. Cuddling while napping is another activity she enjoys doing throughout the day. She loves to play in the water and is friendly with other dogs.

All orchids aren’t hard to care for

Body
Dear Neil: I was given a moth orchid for Valentine’s Day. How should I care for it? Are they difficult? In the whole world of orchids, a huge world, I might add – it’s one of the largest of all plant families, you have one of the easiest.

How do you celebrate the Easter feast?

Body
HEAD OVER MEALS If you weren’t raised in the church, chances are when you think of Easter you think of cute, little fuzzy bunnies, egg hunts, and chocolate candy. If you were raised in the church, all of these are still a part of your Easter, but it takes on a different meaning, a more reflective countenance than outright joy over candy and commercially represented rabbits.

Sunshine House serves the needy

“I picked up meals every Friday. I was just so sore and worn out that I needed help. A year ago, Sunshine House got to delivering meals out here, really helped me to not have to cook as much or drive. My leg pains, and abdomen problems prevent me from doing what needs done,” explains Bob. Hundreds of local senior citizens, like Bob, would continue to struggle with food resources if not for the kindness of Sunshine House volunteers. Some helpers maintain full schedules, with only their lunch hour to spare, and so they do, with a smile.
