The grand opening of the Emmett and Miriam McCoy Building, the new addition to the Museum of the Big Bend, is set for June 23-24. Located on the Sul Ross State University campus in Alpine, the Museum of the Big Bend is excited about the addition of the new McCoy Building to their space.

Texas Water board OKs Presidio County aid

Senator Cesar J. Blanco’s office announced on Tuesday that the Texas Water Development Board approved an application from Presidio County for $4 million for planning, acquisition, design, and construction of water and wastewater system projects in Presidio County.

Museum of the Big Bend receives Darge art collection

Robert and Bonnie McKee have generously donated their entire collection of Friedrich Ernst “Fred” Darge paintings to the Museum of the Big Bend. These paintings will become a part of the museum’s Mr. and Mrs. Robert E. McKee III Family Collection and will debut during the grand opening of the Emmett and Miriam McCoy Building June 23-24.

Marathon Public Library launches summer programs

Under the direction of Dara Cavness, director of the Marathon Public Library, the library is launching its’ summer program lineup consisting of eight separate programs that offer learning opportunities for all ages.
Led by Terri Harkey, Maya Aguilar, Diego Aguilar, Maggie Dabbs, and Ellis Adams listen attentively this past Monday, during a session of Camp Curiosity that is put on by the Marathon Public Library.
