McGuire found guilty of murder

Closing arguments for the trial of Lisette Mc-Guire, 31 of Marathon, were heard on Tuesday, June 20 in the 394th District Court for the alleged murder of Aquiles Gonzales. In late April of 2018, McGuire was arrested for the hit-and-run perpetrated on 37-year-old Gonzales.

Born and bred in Texas, Sidney Balman Jr. made the world his glass slide and his career a microscope. As a security correspondent for many years, Balman made it his job to share the seedy underbelly of the world’s governing bodies with the public eye. Now, Balman uses this history in research and reporting to create fictional storylines that reflect the world he sees, as well as teach the next generation of aspiring journalists how to get the job done, as Sul Ross’ writer in residence.

Big Bend celebrates Fourth of July

The Big Bend area will celebrate Independence Day with festivities throughout the region. Celebrations begin on June 30 in Fort Davis and culminate on July 7 in Marathon at Post Park.
