The College of Agriculture, Life, and Physical Science at Sul Ross State University will host 114 regional members of 4-H and Future Farmers of America who will compete in six separate career development events on Thursday, April 4.

The Big Bend Regional Hospital District held its monthly meeting on Thursday, March 21 at 5 p.m. in the district’s administrative office. Board members Reagan Reed, treasurer, Valynda Henington, director- district 2, Angela Juett, secretary, Dr. Laura Portillo, director-district 1, Buddy Cavness, chairman, and J.D. Newsom, executive director were all in attendance to listen to asks and discuss district business.

The Alpine ISD board of trustees met last Wednesday, March 20 in a special meeting to approve donations and discuss the possibility of future passive income. All board members were present, as they were required to participate in a budget workshop and team-building session after the approval and discussion of the above items.

The Brewster County Commissioners Court held its regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, March 26. During the meeting, Kayse Muratori, the Geographic Information System 911 coordinator with the Rio Grand Council of Governments, informed the court of a project that the Texas Geographic Information Office (TGIO) has been developing recently.

They say that a picture is worth a thousand words, and in the case of this creamy Tuscan chicken gnocchi, they aren’t wrong. Sadly, the transfer of digital photography to newsprint does not do the sight of this dish justice. Dear Neil: Is my Texas mountain laurel OK to leave alone, or do its trunks need to be cabled together? It doesn’t move at all when you push on it. I’m not fond of the branches that are growing into one another, but I can’t tell from the photos if there would be any way to trim the plant to remove one or two of them.
