Dear Neil: This weed/ vine/grass is overtaking the bare spots in my St. Augustine lawn where chinch bugs killed the St. Augustine last summer. Glyphosate works well where it has taken over fully, but I’m hesitant to spray that around my St. Augustine because I obviously don’t want to kill it. What might work?

School bus involved in accident

Last week, the Avalanche was informed of a vehicle accident at the corner of 4th Street and Fort Davis involving an Alpine ISD school bus. The bus was being driven by Coach Villanueva according to information from the Alpine Police Department.

Last chance to vote in city election

This coming Saturday, May 4 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. is the last chance to vote for the seats on the Alpine City Council in both the general and special election. Registered voters may cast their ballots at the council chamber room at 803 W. Holland Avenue.
