City of Alpine now accepting HOT tax grant applications

Applications are currently being accepted for Hotel Occupancy Tax (HOT) grants from the City of Alpine for the 2024-2025 fiscal year. Visitor events and other projects that draw overnight visits to the city are eligible for funding consideration, according to the requirements of state law.

City Council says goodbye to three members

The Alpine City Council met for its regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, May 7. This meeting marked the ending of the current familiar council, as council members Judy Stokes of Ward 1, Chris Rodriguez of Ward 2, and Martin Sandate of Ward 4 said farewell due to their terms coming to a close.

Looking back on a fortunate career

Mary Bones has called the Big Bend region home for more than 30 years, having been a part of community organizations focused on the abundance of flora, fauna, and history that the Big Bend has to offer. And it was flora that led her to her last, and perhaps best-known achievement as Director of the Museum of the Big Bend (MoBB) from which she just retired after six years at the helm.
