Last Thursday evening around 5:30 p.m., multiple agencies, including the Alpine Police Department, the Brewster County Sheriff’s Office, and the Alpine Volunteer Fire Department, were called to the scene of a vehicle fire on West Highway 90 around the intersection of FM 1703. According to information from the Alpine Police Department, the driver of the highway striping truck had pulled over due to a high heat alarm. When the driver disembarked from the vehicle, he noticed flames near the rear of the truck.

TxDOT plans construction for State Highway 118

The Texas Department of Transportation has issued an alert for traffic traveling on SH 118 from the Jeff Davis County line to the north side of Avenue E in downtown Alpine. Construction crews will begin a surfacing and roadway rehabilitation program scheduled to begin on Monday, August 5.

Their remarkable performance not only secured them a record-breaking 45-4 season but also clinched home-field advantage for the upcoming playoffs. The Cowboys also finished the regular season as the Mountain Division South Champions.
