LADY BUCK VOLLEYBALL Aug. 20 Alpine vs Midland Trinity F @4:30 p.m.,JV @5:30 p.m.

The Alpine Lady Bucks Volleyball teams demonstrated resilience and promise during their recent scrimmages and dual matches, setting a positive tone for the upcoming tournament season. Over the weekend, the Lady Bucks participated in scrimmages hosted by Andrews High School and Midland Greenwood High School.

The Alpine High School Fightin’ Bucks started the preseason Friday, August 16, against the McCamey Badgers with great performances by both the junior varsity and varsity squads. While there were no winners or losers in the scrimmages, the Bucks’s defense swarmed and their offense hustled, making McCamey look more like prairie dogs than badgers.

The Trans-Pecos region of Texas is an area of incredible biodiversity with more rare and endemic wildlife species than anywhere else in the state. Chihuahuan Desert grasslands are one of the most critical natural systems in the Trans-Pecos, providing important habitat for myriad species from pronghorn to a variety of grassland birds.

There’s a lot to be excited about for the 2024 season if you’re an Alpine High School Fightin’ Bucks football fan. Coming off a Bi-District Championship in 2023, Head Coach Andy Smith, who also serves as the Alpine Independent School District Athletic Director, seeks to continue building a program that produces talented student-athletes who are also respectful and hard-working.

The Brewster County Commissioner’s Court held its regular meeting on Tuesday, August 13, at 9:30 a.m. in the Commissioner’s Courtroom.
