Quite a few rodeo greats have come out of Sul Ross. Although his humbleness would likely not allow him to call himself a rodeo great, Sul Ross Rodeo Coach C.J. Aragon rightly should, as his accomplishments in rodeo have earned him an induction into the Idaho Rodeo Hall of Fame (IRHF). With six criteria to be met for this honor, Aragon’s career in rodeo checks all the boxes.

From Alaska to New Zealand and parts in between, Rene Ybarra has turned what began as time spent hunting with his late father into a business of love. Many people know Ybarra as the local Alpine boy who went to the Marines and has now settled into his elected position with the Brewster County Sheriff’s Office.

Two Sul Ross students and a staff member received the Presidential Volunteer Service Awards (PVSA) on Tuesday night during the Student Organization Awards ceremony at the Morgan University Center. This premier national award program offers three levels of annual recognition and a lifetime award.

The Alpine Middle School baseball season showed some future promise, with the dedication and teamwork, along with marked development in their skills, according to Coach Marco Gomez. “Under the guidance of our experienced coaches, both the 7th and 8th-grade teams showed resilience and commitment to excellence,” said Gomez.

All these religious groups prove one thing to me: that people sense that there is someone or something bigger and stronger and better than they are. So, people create religions to discover who we are, where we came from, where we are going, and how we can get there.
