Body Services for Dora Vega Rojo are scheduled for Saturday, September 12, at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Alpine. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m., followed by the Rosary at 9:30 a.m., and the funeral Mass at 10 a.m.

Body Robert L. Soza, Sr. passed away on August 19, 2026. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, pharmacist, businessman, and friend whose life was woven into the history of Alpine and the Trans-Pecos region.

Body William Hayes Mitchell Jr. of Marfa passed away on August 6, 2026. Hayes was born on November 1, 1935, to William Hayes Mitchell Sr. and Adele Crain Mitchell. A rancher by birth, Hayes was the fourth generation of the Mitchell family to ranch in West Texas.

Body The Marfa City Council held its regular meeting on Thursday, August 24, at 6 p.m. in the Casner Room of the Marfa City Hall.

Body The City of Alpine held its regular city council meeting on Tuesday, September 1, at 5:30 p.m. Ward 3 Councilor Robert Ruckes was absent, and Ward 4 Councilor Lucy Escovedo joined later in the meeting. The meeting was presided over by Alpine Mayor Catherine Eaves.

Body The Alpine Independent School District Board of Trustees held its regular meeting on Wednesday, August 19. Trustees Jimmy Morris and Josh Cross were absent.
