Body The Alpine High School Fightin’ Bucks packed plenty of action into a short week, returning to the diamond after seven days off for a district showdown against Anthony High School on Friday, March 20.

Body Cecilia Garrett Davis, 87, of Fort Davis, passed away at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa on Monday, March 16, at 4:45 p.m. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, March 20, at Fort Davis Church of Christ in Fort Davis.

Body Romelia Valenzuela Losoya of Gordonville, Texas, a devoted mother, grandmother, nurse, birder, quilter, and lover of nature, passed away peacefully on March 14, 2026, at the age of 80.

Body Yolanda Martinez Salcido, 72, of Fort Davis, passed away peacefully at Big Bend Regional Medical Center on March 16, 2026, surrounded by her beloved family. She was born on February 8, 1954, in Alpine to Manuel and Josefina Martinez.

Body The family of Penny Hardaway invites Penny’s friends to join with Penny’s family and the congregation of First Christian, Alpine, in remembering and celebrating Penny’s life on Tuesday, March 31, at 2 p.m. There will be a reception honoring Penny following the memorial service.

Body For several months, the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Task Force has studied options for providing ambulance service to North Brewster County. South Brewster County has Emergency Services District 1 (ESD 1), which provides EMS and Fire service.
