Marathon Public Library receives Rural Impact Award

Marathon Public Library (MPL) has been awarded the 2025 Beacon Award for Rural Impact – Big Bend Region from the Nonprofit Management Center of the Permian Basin. This recognition celebrates MPL’s dedication to serving its rural community through innovative programs and community- centered services.

Shutdown could halt SNAP for 3.5 million Texans The continuing federal shutdown means food benefits provided to 3.5 million Texans could be cut off in November, The Texas Tribune reported. Of those affected, nearly half are children.

Early voting ends tomorrow

Early voting for the November 4 constitutional amendments election ends tomorrow, October 31, at 7 p.m. Polls are open today and tomorrow from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Judge Val Clark Beard Office Complex at 203 N. 7th Street.
