The City of Alpine held their regular city council meeting on May 9, at 5:30 p.m. in the council chambers. Councilor Sara Tandy, Ward 3 was absent for her last official meeting due to family vacation.
The Runnin’ Lady Bucks 800-meter relay team consisting of Novah Carrasco, Valeria Crespo, Danica Mulholland, and Vanessa Rice traveled to Austin this week to compete at the 3A State track and field competition.
This year’s Honors Convocation, held on April 24, recognized 107 of Sul Ross’ student athletes and student trainers at the Marshall Auditorium. These athletes received Distinguished Scholar awards for their achievements.

The Keep Big Bend Wild coalition of Big Bend National Park supporters will hold two community meetings focused on designating undeveloped areas of Big Bend National Park as a protected wilderness area.
The 28th Annual Cinco de Mayo parade was held this past Saturday. Winners for the best parade entries were first place-Nueva Generacion Grupo Folklorico Terlingua School, second place – Mystic Gitanas, and third place-Big Bend Regional Medical Center.
